The national standard "General Requirements for Device - Independent Quantum Random Number Generators", which is under the centralized management of the Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC 578), has been officially released.
Recently, the Standardization Administration of China issued an announcement. The recommended national standard "General Requirements for Device - Independent Quantum Random Number Generators" (GB/T 45240 - 2025), which is under the centralized management of the National Technical Committee for Quantum Computing and Measurement Standardization (SAC/TC 578), was officially released and will come into effect on August 1, 2025.

Quantum random numbers are one of the most mature technologies in quantum information technology and are at the forefront of industrialization. Compared with traditional random number generation technologies, quantum random numbers are based on the intrinsic randomness of quantum mechanics and have better unpredictability. However, assumptions about the trustworthiness of the devices are still required. Device-independent quantum random number generators have the "self-testing" feature and do not require trust in internal devices. They are recognized as the random number generation devices with the highest level of security.

The national standard "General Requirements for Device - Independent Quantum Random Number Generators" was jointly drafted by the Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology, taking the lead, along with 17 other units including Anhui Guoke Quantum Network Co., Ltd., the University of Science and Technology of China, Tsinghua University, and QuantumCTek Co., Ltd. This standard standardizes the terms and definitions, structural composition, performance requirements, etc. of device - independent quantum random number generators, and is applicable to the development and testing of such generators. The development of this standard was supported by the "Quality - Strengthening Chain" major landmark project of the National Market Regulation Administration. The release and implementation of this standard will provide a solid foundation for scientific research and engineering applications in the fields of quantum communication and related areas in China, and create favorable conditions for the subsequent formulation of international standards in related fields. The Standardization Technical Committee warmly welcomes the extensive participation of relevant units in the development of national standards. Let's jointly promote the construction of the national standard system in the field of quantum information technology in China, and provide more comprehensive and standardized technical standard support for scientific research innovation and high - quality industrial development in the field of quantum information technology!
