Pan Jianwei
Pan Jianwei, born in Dongyang, Zhejiang Province in 1970, studied at the University of Science and Technology of China from 1987 to 1995, and obtained bachelor and master degrees in theoretical physics. He studied in Austria in 1996, received a doctorate in experimental physics from the University of Vienna in 1999, and did post-doctoral research at the Institute of Experimental Physics of the University of Vienna from 1999 to 2001. In 2001, he was selected by the Chinese Academy of Sciences for the “Introduction of Outstanding Talents from Foreign Countries” and served as a professor at the University of Science and Technology of China. In May 2015, he was appointed as the Executive Vice President of the University of Science and Technology of China. Professor Pan Jianwei is mainly engaged in the research of basic problem test of quantum optics, quantum information and mechanics. As one of the pioneers in the field of experimental research on quantum information in the world, he is a scientist with important international influence. Using quantum optics, he has achieved a series of important research results in the field of quantum control, especially his systematic innovation work on quantum communication and multi-photon entanglement manipulation, making the experimental research of quantum information one of the fastest development directions in physics in recent years. More than 250 papers have been published in important international academic journals including Nature (15), Science (2), Nature and its series (24), PNAS (4), Physical Review Letters (94), etc. His papers have been cited more than 18,000 times. Due to his outstanding work in quantum communications and other fields, Professor Pan Jianwei was successively elected as academician of the World Academy of Sciences, foreign academician of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, director of the CAS Center for Excellence in Quantum Information and Quantum Physics, part-time vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, and president of the China Association of Young Technologists & Scientists. He won the Fresnel Prize of the European Physical Society, Beller's Lectureship of the American Physical Society, International Quantum Communication Award of International Quantum Communication, Metrology and Computing Society, Lamb Award, first prize in China's State Natural Science Award, Material Science Prize in Future Science Award, "Outstanding Scientist Award" of the Qiushi Science & Technologies Foundation, "Science and Technology Achievement Award" of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, and "Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievement Award" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
